On the afternoon of May 27, 48-year-old Amanda McClure found herself in custody for assault after Toledo Police Department officers attended a disturbance call. The officers, arriving at the scene, discovered McClure involved in a physical confrontation with an unidentified individual, according to court documents reviewed by Law & Crime.

Authorities claim McClure was holding a lighter and had “sprayed” the other person with lighter fluid. When questioned by police about her intentions to potentially harm the individual, McClure reportedly answered, “Maybe,” as noted in a report by 13abc.

The relationship between McClure and the other individual remains undisclosed. However, police allege that McClure assaulted the person by hitting them and pulling their hair before escalating the situation by dousing them with lighter fluid, targeting their face, eyes, and body.

Officers noted that McClure possessed a lighter during the incident.

Police said McClure “had a lighter in her hands.”

The officer pointedly asked McClure “if she was trying to kill the victim,” which was followed by McClure’s noncommittal response.

McClure was charged with felonious assault and booked into the Lucas County Corrections Center, where she is being held on $100,000 bond. A judge issued a temporary no-contact order against McClure.

McClure’s next court date is scheduled for June 4.
