Cherry Hill, NJ — As students in South Jersey set their sights on new horizons, they reflect on an organization that has supported them from the start.
Annually, the Domenica Foundation selects a group of students, providing them with crucial support for their educational endeavors.
“My father founded this organization over three decades ago in honor of his mother, my grandmother Domenica. We collaborate with nonprofits to enhance the lives of underserved communities in South Jersey by focusing on areas such as education, youth housing and homelessness, food insecurity, and community development. We work closely with nonprofits to pinpoint programs that require funding,” explained Elena Piperno, the Foundation’s Director.
“Through our scholarship program, we have awarded scholarships to more than 350 students, the majority hailing from Camden and Pennsauken,” she added.
As they bid farewell to Camden Catholic High School, the students express heartfelt gratitude and look forward to a promising future.
“I don’t come from a family that’s very wealthy. When it came to choosing a high school, it was very down to the point where we were just wondering: ‘can we afford it?’ The Dominica Foundation was willing to help. And when I got the call and that email, it was something life changing,” said Sebastian Torres, Camden Catholic High School Senior.
