Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent made a bold entrance at the Senate Finance Committee meeting, launching a scathing critique of the Democrats, particularly targeting Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon, who serves as the committee’s ranking member.
In a striking opening statement, Bessent accused, “Senator Wyden has deceitfully defamed the Treasury building as a diversion from his son’s involvement with Jeffrey Epstein during an investment meeting.” This meeting, which took place in April 2016, saw Adam Wyden seeking investment for his hedge fund, ACM Capital Management, at Epstein’s Manhattan residence.
Senator Wyden, actively probing into Epstein’s financial dealings, dismissed Bessent’s allegations, stating, “Our goal here is to uncover the facts surrounding this transaction, nothing more.” His focus remains on understanding the financial intricacies of the situation.
In response, Bessent pressed, “We would like to hear what Adam Wyden and Jeffrey Epstein discussed.” His remarks underscored the gravity of the situation and the importance of transparency in the investigation.
