A judge in Arkansas has dropped murder charges against Aaron Spencer, an Army veteran and sheriff candidate, accused of killing a man alleged to have sexually assaulted his teenage daughter.
Spencer faced charges of second-degree murder for the October 2024 shooting of 67-year-old Michael Fosler in Lonoke County.
According to documents accessed by News Agency, Special Circuit Court Judge Ralph Wilson Jr. dismissed the charges on Thursday.
Prosecutors initially claimed that Spencer found Fosler alone with his daughter in Fosler’s pickup truck during the early morning hours of October 8, 2024. Authorities reported that Spencer allegedly forced the truck off the road and then called 911 to report the shooting of Fosler.
Aaron Spencer announced his intention to run for sheriff in Arkansas a year after his arrest for the alleged shooting of the man accused of assaulting his daughter. (Aaron Spencer/Facebook)
