A woman sustained critical injuries following a shooting incident outside a bar on Chicago’s North Side in the early hours of Sunday, according to local law enforcement.
The incident occurred in the Lincoln Park area, specifically in the 600 block of West Belden Avenue, at approximately 4 a.m., authorities reported.

The 39-year-old was outside when she suddenly heard gunfire and realized she had been shot, officials stated.
Despite her injuries, she managed to transport herself to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where medical professionals have listed her in critical condition due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Al, a nearby resident, recounted being awakened by a commotion that included a series of gunshots followed by screams.
“I was asleep when my dog started barking early,” he recalled. “Right after, I heard a sequence of loud ‘pop, pop, pop’ sounds,” he added.
Al says he is now concerned for his family’s safety.
“It was 3 a.m., 3:30, we heard gunshots and a couple of screams. My wife woke up; we called the police,” he said.
Al believes nearby bars that operate until 4 a.m. shoulder part of the blame for this type of activity. He says the solution is to shut down late night bars to ensure the safety of the neighborhood.
“I think the problems are the bars here on Lincoln and Belden. You know, these bars need to close, and alderman needs to wake up. This is nonsense that is happening in our neighborhood,” he said. “My concern is, I have four kids, they’re going to be walking around here, and they’re gonna get shot, because they’re bystanders, and this should not be happening in our neighborhood. This shouldn’t be happening anywhere in Chicago.”
No other injuries were reported, and detectives are investigating.
Ald. Timmy Knudsen, in a statement, said additional patrols have deployed. He asked anyone with additional information to come forward.
Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
