Honda recalls more than 880,000 vehicles for suspension issue that could cause crashes

In a significant move for vehicle safety, Honda has announced a recall affecting 880,514 vehicles due to potential issues with the rear suspension components. According to a notice from federal regulators, these components could fail, posing a risk of injury or even causing a crash.

The recall, detailed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), involves specific models sold across 23 states and the District of Columbia. This widespread initiative underscores the importance of addressing possible safety concerns promptly.

  • Honda Pilot, 2016-2022 model years
  • Ridgeline, 2017-2023
  • Passport, 2019-2023
  • Acura MDX, 2014-2020

The issue at the heart of the recall is corrosion within the rear subframe, which may lead to the failure of suspension components. Such a failure could result in drivers experiencing a loss of vehicle control, significantly increasing the risk of accidents, as highlighted in the NHTSA’s notice. Honda has estimated that only about 1% of the vehicles recalled are likely to exhibit this defect.

  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • District of Columbia
