LOS ANGELES — Disturbing testimony resumed Friday in the preliminary hearing for singer D4vd, as a Los Angeles judge considers whether prosecutors have presented enough evidence for the musician to face trial in the killing of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Prosecutors allege D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, sexually abused Rivas Hernandez beginning when she was 13 and he was 18. They contend he later stabbed her to death after she threatened to expose what they describe as a lengthy sexual relationship that could have destroyed his music career.
An LAPD detective testified about explicit images recovered from Burke’s phone that allegedly showed sexual acts involving Burke and Rivas Hernandez. The detective also detailed a series of text messages between the two referencing pregnancy and abortion, including messages sent roughly two months after the girl’s 13th birthday.

In one message attributed to Burke, he wrote: “let this abortion be the last one till we have the real one.”
