Texas woman shot ex 18 times after luring him out with fake pizza delivery

A Texas woman is accused of shooting her ex-husband 18 times after allegedly luring him outside with a phony pizza delivery, law enforcement officials report.

Authorities have identified Marquita Marie Rice, 31, as the suspect who allegedly ambushed her former partner outside his Dallas residence before fleeing the scene, according to information from the Dallas Police Department and reported by WNCN.

In a remarkable turn of events, the ex-husband, whose identity remains undisclosed, survived the ordeal. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition after the shooting, which took place around 4 p.m. local time on March 1.

She drove “all the way from Georgia to Dallas and back … And from Savannah, from Raleigh to Georgia to Dallas,” Bui said.

Rice was detained in the town of Wake Forest, just north of Raleigh, NC, by local cops and the US Marshals Service, according to Dallas Police.

She made her first court appearance in Wake County the following day, May 27, where she refused extradition to Texas.

Rice was held on a $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court again on June 25.
