Shocking Texas Crime: Woman Deceives Ex with Fake Pizza Delivery, Fires 18 Shots

A Texas woman is accused of shooting her ex-husband 18 times after allegedly luring him outside with a phony pizza delivery, law enforcement officials report.

Authorities have identified Marquita Marie Rice, 31, as the suspect who allegedly ambushed her former partner outside his Dallas residence before fleeing the scene, according to information from the Dallas Police Department and reported by WNCN.

In a remarkable turn of events, the ex-husband, whose identity remains undisclosed, survived the ordeal. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition after the shooting, which took place around 4 p.m. local time on March 1.

Security footage, described as dramatic, appears to capture Rice clad in black, lying in wait behind a wall near the garage as the pizza delivery arrived. She allegedly anticipated her ex-husband’s emergence from the house.

Upon the victim opening the door, Rice is accused of firing multiple shots at him, fleeing briefly, then returning to discharge additional rounds.

Detectives suspect the pizza delivery was part of a calculated plan, as the victim reportedly did not order it, supporting their belief that the shooting was premeditated.

Rice was arrested on May 26 in Wake County, North Carolina, more than 1,000 miles away from the scene of the shooting, although police didn’t document the arrest until June 10, as reported by FOX4 News.

Dallas cops tracked her down through the taillights on her Chevy Trax, which she used to flee the scene.

“The taillights make a big difference for my case,” Detective Michael Bui told FOX 4, describing how Rice allegedly tried to cover her tracks in the weeks following the shooting.

She drove “all the way from Georgia to Dallas and back … And from Savannah, from Raleigh to Georgia to Dallas,” Bui said.

Rice was detained in the town of Wake Forest, just north of Raleigh, NC, by local cops and the US Marshals Service, according to Dallas Police.

She made her first court appearance in Wake County the following day, May 27, where she refused extradition to Texas.

Rice was held on a $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court again on June 25.
