Trump calls out Netanyahu over Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets
Escalating tensions in the Middle East are complicating President Donald Trump’s effort to secure a peace agreement with Iran. Fox News reported that pressure on Tehran has intensified through U.S. military strikes and a naval blockade, while Israel has also launched fresh attacks on Hezbollah targets in Beirut. The talks remain focused on possible deal terms, verification measures, and persistent doubts over whether Iran would ultimately honor any agreement.
A regional analyst said concern is mounting in Jerusalem that Trump could “flip” on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a pivotal moment in the U.S.-Iran diplomatic push. Those fears grew sharper Sunday after the Israel Defense Forces carried out a second strike on Beirut.
The attack came despite U.S. warnings that further military action could jeopardize a potential breakthrough with Tehran. It also unfolded as Netanyahu was preparing to gather Israel’s Security Cabinet and shortly after Trump said a new memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran could be signed very soon.
“The strikes today in Beirut are creating issues with finalizing the deal,” a diplomat involved in the Tehran negotiations told Fox News Chief Foreign Correspondent Trey Yingst. The diplomat described the operation as “a clear attempt by Israel to sabotage the president’s deal and drag the United States back into war.”
Trump later publicly criticized Israel’s actions in a Truth Social post and, according to Axios, said Netanyahu had “no f—ing judgment.”
