Austin Metcalf's father rips former Frisco schools chief as 'spineless' over Karmelo Anthony graduation

According to Cain, outrage has grown after AI-generated images began circulating online that appear to show people urinating on Metcalf’s grave marker, accompanied by explicit and taunting captions. He called the trend “despicable” and “unbelievable,” and questioned why such behavior appears to be spreading.

The backlash comes as Austin Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, continues to speak publicly about the loss of his son and the handling of the case by local school officials.

Austin Metcalf, 17, was killed in April 2025 when he was stabbed at a high school track meet. Karmelo Anthony was later convicted of murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison.

In the days since the closely watched verdict, Jeff Metcalf has shared his grief and frustration in a series of public remarks.

Jeff Metcalf, speaking about his son’s death, said he believes Frisco Independent School District and its former superintendent failed in their response to the case. He has criticized the district’s handling of the aftermath of Austin’s killing, including questions surrounding how officials dealt with Anthony’s ability to graduate.

Addressing former superintendent Mike Waldrip, he said he “folded like a cheap tent under pressure,” from Anthony supporters pushing Frisco ISD to allow him to still graduate despite the allegations against him at the time of his graduation last year.

In a recent interview with Rumble podcast “JinxedSip,” the grieving father again went after Waldrip and said he was “the most spineless, coward piece of —- I’ve ever met in my entire life,” TMZ reported.

Metcalf also expressed his anger at the fact that Waldrip allowed Anthony to graduate high school after the stabbing.

“He didn’t go back to school after April 2. He might have had the credit, he might have had the grades, but you still have the ability to deny the diploma,” he said to News Agency.

He told News Agency that Anthony should not have been allowed to graduate based on attendance as he says the killer never returned to school following the stabbing.

TMZ reported, “Jeff argued that Karmelo shouldn’t have been able to graduate because he says the school handbook allegedly declares murder to be grounds for ‘mandatory expulsion.’”

Anthony was convicted of murder more than a year after he fatally stabbed Metcalf.

Jeff Metcalf also told News Agency the school system didn’t have strong enough security at the fateful track meet.

He said, “They didn’t have metal detectors that the athletes went through, they didn’t have proper security. I mean, I can go on and on. They were negligent in this.”

Waldrip was the school system’s superintendent during the time that Metcalf was killed. Frisco ISD announced his retirement in November 2025, more than six months after the murder.

News Agency has reached out to Waldrip and Frisco ISD for comment on Metcalf’s claims.
