GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Alex Dixon Boatwright, 35, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison and will then spend 10 years on sexual offender probation after entering a nolo contendere plea to nine counts of possessing child pornography.
On Nov. 5, 2024, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a Google CyberTip that contained 60 videos and two images identified as child sexual abuse material, or CSAM. Investigators said the files had been uploaded to a Google account under the name “Alex Boatwright” over a period stretching from June 2021 through October 2024, and they remained stored in the account’s Google Drive when the tip was submitted. The Gainesville Police Department later took over the investigation.
Authorities traced IP addresses tied to the CyberTip to Boatwright’s residence and cell phone. Court records also showed that his name and phone number were linked to the Google account. Boatwright was arrested in August 2025. Additional details about the investigation are available here.
Under the plea agreement, the offenses exposed Boatwright to a maximum possible sentence of 60 years behind bars.
Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard imposed three consecutive prison terms of five years, five years, and two years. She also ordered four additional five-year sentences and two two-year sentences to run concurrently, bringing the total prison term to 12 years. Boatwright received credit for 294 days already served and, once released, must complete 10 years of sexual offender probation.
