A Florida mother and stepfather are accused of assaulting a 15-year-old boy after he brought their daughter home from an overnight party, apparently believing he was an adult.

Rosa Lamourt Tiru, 45, and Lance Mulonas, 61, face charges of aggravated child abuse and aggravated assault. Mulonas is also charged with false imprisonment and criminal mischief.

According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, the confrontation happened around 3 p.m. at a residence in the 1500 block of N. Normandy Boulevard in Deltona. Tiru and Mulonas were the first to contact law enforcement, telling deputies their 15-year-old daughter had been out all night and had been dropped off by an adult.

“You cannot go,” Tiru told the boy while speaking with dispatchers. “The cops are coming.”

Authorities say the couple left out key details: that they had allegedly assaulted the teen and damaged his vehicle. They also reportedly did not know the boy was the same age as their daughter.

The teen told investigators that immediately after he pulled into the girl’s driveway to drop her off, a white van blocked his car, according to the affidavit. Mulonas, identified as the girl’s stepfather, allegedly got out of the van carrying a metal pipe. When the teen lowered his window, Mulonas began striking the roof of the car, deputies wrote. He also allegedly held a knife close to the teen’s neck.

Deputies said Tiru was waving a gun during the encounter. Mulonas eventually moved the van, allowing the teen to leave. The boy then met his mother at a nearby gas station, where she called 911.

“Two adults assaulted my son,” the boy’s mother said. “He’s 15. He’s a minor and they pulled a gun and a knife on him and damaged a vehicle.”

The teen said he was in fear for his life during the incident. His mother estimated the damage to the car at around $4,000.

Deputies arrested Tiru and Mulonas and took them to the Volusia County Jail, where they remain without bond. Their next court hearing is on July 1.
