Man dead, another critical after double stabbing at Brooklyn park as police detain person of interest: NYPD

A 21-year-old man has died and a 30-year-old man remains in critical condition after a double stabbing Saturday at Dyker Beach Park in Brooklyn, New York.

According to the New York City Police Department, officers were called to the area just before 2 p.m. local time after a 911 report that two men had been stabbed near 86th Street and 14th Avenue, inside the 68th Precinct.

Responding officers found both victims suffering from stab wounds to their bodies, officials said.

Emergency medical personnel transported both men to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition. The younger victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The NYPD has not yet released the name of the man who died, pending notification of his family.

A person of interest has been taken into police custody, though their identity has not yet been released.

No motives were released, and the NYPD said the investigation remains ongoing.
