NEW YORK — Taylor Swift’s reported wedding to three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce is expected to unfold as a multi-day affair, complete with street closures, a large VIP guest list, a dedicated police presence and taxpayer-funded security measures, according to a source familiar with the planning.
The NYPD is said to be preparing to secure a full city block outside Madison Square Garden, placing one of Manhattan’s busiest areas under heightened control for the event.
According to the source, the celebration will include several days of setup, private events and teardown. Roughly 1,000 guests are expected — a modest number for the venue and for two of the most recognizable figures in sports and entertainment, though police have reportedly categorized many attendees as “high profile” and “VIP.”
Swift and Kelce have kept details of the guest list closely guarded, while law enforcement has been told to anticipate heavy crowds of fans and paparazzi gathering outside, the source said.

TMZ previously reported that guests received individually watermarked invitations, a measure apparently intended to prevent leaks. The location of the wedding has also remained the subject of intense speculation for weeks.
About 100 guests have been invited to a rehearsal dinner, which is also expected to be held at Madison Square Garden the evening before the ceremony, the source said.
New York authorities are expected to close West 31st Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues for the entire day on July 3. The planned closure is narrower than the security footprint used during the NBA Finals, which the New York Knicks won earlier this month, when multiple blocks surrounding Madison Square Garden were shut down.
On the wedding day, guests will arrive at a secure reception tent as the cocktail hour kicks off, so they can enter away from prying eyes.

The ceremony is scheduled for the evening with the reception running into the early morning of July 4, according to the source, and reports suggest there will be A-list performances along the way.
Roughly 10 blocks to the north, revelers will be ringing in the United States’ 250th birthday in Times Square, according to the organizers of America 250 — with a ball dropping eight times, marking midnight in every time zone where the country has territory.
The days-long festivities have been sponsored and approved by New York City’s Street Activity Permit Office, which is part of the Mayor’s Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management.

The New York Post’s Page Six has reported that the wedding bash will feature performances from Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw and be “bigger than the Met Gala.”

In a photo obtained by News Agency Monday, a large truck was seen backing into a loading bay at the MSG, where workers took out large items concealed by black plastic sheets.
The NYPD did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The venue falls within the NYPD’s Patrol Borough Manhattan South, whose commanding officer was reassigned last week amid an internal affairs corruption probe.
