Some performers have a gift for making the entire set burst into laughter, and “The Big Bang Theory” stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch certainly proved they had that talent. If you want to see the pair send their castmates into fits of giggles, watch the video above.
Fans may remember the episode in which Sheldon (Jim Parsons) spanks Amy (Bialik) after discovering she lied about being ill in an attempt to keep him doting on her. Off camera, the scene was apparently just as outrageous to film as it sounds. Parsons and Bialik struggled to keep straight faces, with the laughter spilling beyond that specific moment and into other parts of the episode. At one point, Bialik’s body language alone is enough to make Parsons snicker. Another scene from the same storyline, in which Sheldon applies vapor rub to Amy’s chest, also goes off the rails when Bialik starts raising her eyebrows and blinking at Parsons until he breaks.
Bialik and Rauch also had no trouble making each other laugh. In one Season 9 outtake, Amy is meant to ask Bernadette when she and Howard decided to have a baby. Instead, Bialik accidentally swaps in the word “how” and then tries to untangle the sentence as Rauch starts laughing. “Not how,” Bialik says, quickly adding, “That would be weird!”
Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch know how to get their co-stars gigging
Of course, Rauch and Bialik did not limit their comedic chaos to one another. Their scenes with Kaley Cuoco’s Penny also produced memorable bloopers. In one outtake, Penny reacts with horror to the intense portrait Amy painted to celebrate their friendship. Rauch, playing Bernadette, is supposed to offer a little encouragement, but her delivery of the line “look at that face, that enormous, unsettling, crazy face!” pushes Cuoco into laughter.
Even heartfelt scenes were not safe from a well-timed flub. In a blooper from Bernadette’s wedding to Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), she calls out to Howard’s mother that their friends have all become ordained and that the whole thing is adorable. On the show, the sequence became one of the most pause-worthy moments in “The Big Bang Theory” history. In the outtake, however, Rauch mangles the line and turns the sweet scene into a laugh-filled mess.
