Katie Price reveals plans to go on MasterChef after cooking for Harvey

She recently made an emotional admission that she has been “struggling” after spending a month in self-isolation away from four of her five children.

Now Katie Price has said she would like to take part in Celebrity MasterChef, after cooking for her eldest son, 17-year-old Harvey, during the UK’s COVID-19 lockdown.

The 41-year-old former glamour model shared a home-cooking clip on Instagram on Wednesday evening featuring herself and Harvey, joking in the caption: “last night’s dinner… @jamieoliver eat your heart out!”

Wearing a red crop top with coordinating tracksuit bottoms, Katie showed off the meal she had prepared: a sausage casserole served with rice.

In the video, the mother of five said: “Harvey, is mummy cooking for you again? Look at this, sausages, a little sausage casserole with rice.”

Katie also praised Harvey for pitching in at home during lockdown, warmly adding: “You’ve been helping me do the dish washer and you’re being all responsible.”

She has since opened up about her ambitions in the kitchen, revealing that she would be keen to appear on Celebrity MasterChef.

Speaking to The Sun, Katie said: “I would love to be invited to do Celebrity Bake Off, or Celebrity Masterchef – it makes me hungry just watching it!”

‘I could give those celeb chefs a run for their money – I’d do meals on a better budget too!’

Katie also discussed how challenging cooking for Harvey, who is partially blind, autistic and has Prader-Willi syndrome, can be as he needs ‘well balanced meals’ to work alongside his medication.

She added: ‘Harvey has to have well balanced meals to maintain his weight – his medication means maintaining his weight can be a challenge, but his favourite food is chicken.’

Katie is also set to discuss her recent admission to The Priory in a special one-hour episode of her reality series My Crazy Life, which will be aired on Quest Red in May.

The show will see the TV star in the run up to her breakdown and dealing with ‘severe stress’ due to her bankruptcy and split from Kris Boyson.

It comes after Katie emotionally admitted that she is ‘struggling’ after not seeing four of her kids for a month as she isolates with eldest son Harvey who has a ‘high risk of dying’ if he catches coronavirus.

Of her other children: Junior, 14, and Princess, 12, are isolating with dad Peter Andre, 47, while Jett, six, and Bunny, five are with their dad Kieran Hayler, 33.

Harvey has Prader-Willi Syndrome, is partially sighted and struggles with septo-optic dysplasia, which affects his growth.

As well as her son’s conditions which make him more vulnerable to the deadly virus, Katie’s mum Amy has idiopathic fibrosis.

The terminal lung condition, which reduces the sufferer’s ability to breathe, means that Katie can’t see her mother either.

Katie told new! magazine: ‘Harvey is one of those who are at a high risk of dying if they get it, so I haven’t been able to see my other kids.

‘It’s hard, but I’ve got FaceTime. In that respect I’m struggling – it’s been a month since I’ve seen them. But I can’t risk Harvey.’

Of her mum Amy, Katie said: ‘My mum is dying and the last time I saw her was two weeks ago. I couldn’t even go in the house. I was in the garden and she was in the conservatory.’

Katie also admitted she’d love to have signed up as an NHS volunteer to support the service if her time wasn’t filled with looking after her disabled son.

When Harvey was born he was diagnosed with the rare genetic disorder Prader-Willi Syndrome, among other health complications including being blind due to Septo-optic dysplasia while he is also autistic, has an underactive thyroid and diabetes.

Harvey’s Prader-Willi Syndrome means he suffers with a chronic feeling of hunger, resulting in the fact he is prone to obesity.

Katie had split from Harvey’s father Dwight York by the time she gave birth to him in May 2002 and the model has since criticised the sportsman for his treatment of their son, who he hasn’t seen for over 13 years.

The athlete initially denied he was the father after Katie fell pregnant, forcing her to undergo DNA tests to confirm he was in fact the father.

In her book Reborn, the mother-of-five insisted Dwight was unwilling to accept the limitations of his son’s disabilities.

In 2017, Katie revealed that her mum Amy was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which causes progressive and irreversible scarring of the lungs, and currently there is no cure.

Last April during an appearance on Loose Women, Amy revealed she made the decision to move to Spain to avoid the colder winter months in a bid to improve her declining health.

Katie also spoke at the time about how she first reacted to her mum’s diagnosis, saying: ‘The first time we appeared on the show I was crying. I couldn’t cope and when you hear ‘terminal’ you think she’s not gone long left.’

Katie has also said when the family first discovered Amy’s diagnosis, she tried to offer her mum a lung.

‘She wouldn’t ever let me because I have kids but it’s not that easy. There’s not that many on the transplant list, they have to wait until you’re nearly dead,’ she said.

Amy told the panel she was hoping to go on a research drug because it ‘wouldn’t make her condition any worse.’
