Apple is reportedly developing a redesigned version of its entry-level MacBook Pro, with a launch possible as early as the first half of 2027, according to Bloomberg. The company is also said to be testing four new iPad Pro models expected to arrive in the spring, though those tablets appear to be centered more on internal upgrades than major exterior changes.
The forthcoming MacBook Pro is expected to stick with a 14-inch display, but its overall design will reportedly align with Apple’s broader plans for touch screen MacBooks. Those touch-enabled laptops are currently expected sometime between the end of this year and early next year. Bloomberg has previously reported that the models could feature a pill-shaped cutout at the top of the display, similar in concept to the Dynamic Island on the iPhone.
Apple most recently refreshed the base MacBook Pro in October with an M5 chip. The company is also working on its M6 processor, and Bloomberg says Apple completed work months ago on another entry-level MacBook Pro update that keeps the current design and is planned for release this year. A faster transition is expected in 2027, when Apple is reportedly set to move to the M7 family, including new Pro and Max versions.
On the iPad side, Bloomberg reports that the next iPad Pro lineup will continue to offer 11-inch and 13-inch screen sizes. Apple last updated the iPad Pro family in October, when it added the M5 chip.
