Olivia Rodrigo made her return less than a month ago with one of 2026’s most eagerly awaited albums, and the pop star quickly showed that the anticipation around her new chapter could translate into major chart momentum. You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love arrived as an instant force on the Billboard rankings, opening at No. 1 on every chart where it was eligible to compete.
Rodrigo reaching No. 1 is hardly a surprise, given her status as one of music’s most influential global hitmakers. What stands out is the way You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love has already moved beyond Guts, a major success in its own right, in several important areas. As her newest release spends a second week on the charts, it continues to underline a bigger point: Rodrigo’s latest era is shaping up to be even larger than the album that confirmed she was far more than a one-era phenomenon.
Olivia Rodrigo Spends A Second Week At No. 1
You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 last week. The chart tracks the most popular albums in the United States, combining traditional sales with streaming activity to determine overall consumption.
The album remains at No. 1 for a second consecutive week, holding firm at the top of one of the industry’s most closely watched rankings. That extra week gives Rodrigo’s third LP a clear advantage over Guts in a highly visible category. Her sophomore album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in September 2023, but its run in the top spot lasted just one week before it slipped from the summit.
Olivia Rodrigo Has Kept Multiple Albums Atop the Billboard 200 for Several Weeks
You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love now becomes Rodrigo’s second album to spend more than one week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Her debut, Sour, which transformed her from rising talent into a worldwide star, opened in the top position in June 2021. That album ultimately logged five weeks at No. 1, and it remains her longest-running chart champion to date.
Olivia Rodrigo Scored Her Biggest Week Yet
You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love also delivered the biggest opening week of Rodrigo’s career across several of Billboard’s most competitive rankings. The project debuted with 485,000 equivalent album units, with more than half of that figure coming from pure sales. In its first tracking week, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love sold 273,000 copies across CD, vinyl, and digital download formats.
That sum marks an enormous leap from Guts, which started at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 302,000 equivalent units. Almost exactly half of that total – 150,000 – were pure purchases.
Sour, Rodrigo’s first LP, arrived atop the Billboard 200 with 295,000 equivalent units. That means the opening sum attached to her debut album is only a little larger than the first-week figure that You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love managed.
You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love Refuses to Budge from No. 1
In its second week on Billboard lists, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love refuses to move from No. 1. The project is steady atop the Billboard 200, and it also holds at No. 1 on Top Album Sales, Top Streaming Albums, Vinyl Albums, Top Rock & Alternative Albums, and Top Alternative Albums charts as well. Rodrigo may be pushed off of the throne in a few days – perhaps by K-pop boy band Ateez – but a return to the penthouse for You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is not entirely out of the question.
