A senior staffer for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reportedly confronted ABC executives after “The View” co-host Sara Haines criticized a socialist congressional hopeful on air, accusing the candidate of antisemitism.
According to Semafor, one of Mamdani’s aides complained privately to network leaders after Haines said during a recent broadcast that she would “full-blown call” Democratic congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier “an antisemite.”
The aide also reportedly cautioned ABC that Haines’ comments could influence whether Mamdani and other democratic socialist candidates choose to appear on the daytime talk show going forward.

The dispute unfolded as ABC reportedly turned down a request from Mamdani’s team to book two of the mayor’s congressional allies — Avila Chevalier and Queens Assemblywoman Claire Valdez — for appearances on “The View.”
Semafor reported that producers told Mamdani’s representatives they were taking a careful approach to booking candidates while the Federal Communications Commission’s equal-time inquiry involving the show remains pending.
The Post has reached out to both ABC and Mamdani for comment.
