Don & Bettina launch attack on Charlie Kirk 'liars' after day in court

Donald Trump Jr. and his wife, Bettina Trump, have sharply criticized what they described as “liars” pushing false claims about the murder case of Charlie Kirk, after the couple spent two days in court supporting the slain conservative activist’s family.

Just hours after sitting through Tyler Robinson’s preliminary hearing with Kirk’s widow, Erika, and his parents, Bettina praised Erika for showing “extraordinary grace and courage” while denouncing those she said had spread reckless speculation rather than letting the legal process play out.

“There is a PROFOUND difference between seeking truth through the judicial process and spreading lies for attention,” Bettina Trump wrote in an Instagram Story.

“Erika is not a public spectacle. She is a widow and a mother of 2 children who lost their father in an unimaginable way. She, her children, and Charlie’s family deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, and compassion.”

Bettina said she and Don Jr. felt “honored” to be at the Kirk family’s side during two difficult days in the Provo courtroom. She suggested the evidence shown, including hours of surveillance video, would address many of the unanswered questions that she said had been irresponsibly replaced by rumors and misleading narratives.

She also said Erika maintained remarkable composure throughout the proceedings, describing her conduct as marked by “extraordinary grace and courage.”

The president’s eldest son also commented after Tuesday’s hearing, pointing to what he characterized as a key detail involving accused gunman Tyler Robinson’s alleged activity in the hours before the fatal shooting.

“Fact: Tyler Robinson was on the Utah Valley University campus 4 times between September 10, 2025 and the early hours (approximately 12:40 am) on September 11, 2025,” Trump Jr. wrote on X.

‘Major detail no one seems to be talking about: Tyler Robinson was not a student at UVU!!!’

Inside the courtroom, however, it was Erika Kirk’s quiet act of compassion that left one witness overwhelmed.

As prosecutors played bombshell surveillance footage during Tyler Robinson’s preliminary hearing, Erika noticed a woman in the public gallery overcome with emotion and silently reached over to hand her a tissue.

Without knowing who she was or where she stood, she silently handed her a tissue.

That simple act of compassion left the woman speechless.

‘She doesn’t know if I’m Team Erika or not, yet she handed me a tissue, and I lost it,’ Utah resident Denae Branch said during the lunch recess.

‘She didn’t know if I was a friend or not, and she showed love.’.

The poignant exchange came as the packed courtroom was shown bombshell new evidence laying out prosecutors’ timeline of Robinson’s alleged movements before and after the fatal shooting that killed the conservative activist at Utah Valley University last September.

Should public figures and their families be shielded from speculation and rumors during high-profile trials?

Erika, who had quietly entered court alongside Charlie’s parents Kathryn and Robert Kirk, remained composed for much of the proceedings despite repeatedly being confronted with evidence surrounding her husband’s death.

It marked the family’s first appearance in court since Monday, when they left the courtroom before jurors were shown graphic footage of the shooting itself.

Tuesday’s hearing instead focused on previously unseen surveillance video that prosecutors say charts Robinson’s actions throughout the day Charlie Kirk was killed.

Earlier in the morning, Judge Tony Graf dealt Robinson’s defense a major setback by ruling prosecutors could introduce the surveillance footage despite months of legal challenges over whether it should be admitted.

Former Utah State Bureau of Investigation Agent David Hull then walked the court through the recordings frame by frame.

Hull testified Robinson first arrived on the Utah Valley University campus roughly four hours before the shooting wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

According to Hull, Robinson wandered the campus, bought food at Chick-fil-A and even approached members of Turning Point USA, the conservative organization co-founded by Kirk, before leaving.

Prosecutors say Robinson returned to campus multiple times that day.

One surveillance clip shown in court allegedly captured Robinson climbing over a railing onto a rooftop overlooking the amphitheater where Kirk was addressing thousands of supporters.

Hull testified Robinson crouched near the edge before the shooting and, afterward, was seen running back across the rooftop, climbing down and fleeing on foot.

The investigator also told the court Robinson returned to campus again the night after the killing.

The evidence prompted a furious response from Donald Trump Jr., who attended court alongside Erika Kirk and Charlie’s parents.

Posting on X during the hearing, the president’s eldest son highlighted one detail he believed had received too little attention.

Robinson, 23, is accused of fatally shooting Kirk while the conservative commentator addressed a crowd at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.

He has not yet entered a plea, and his attorneys have not publicly commented on his guilt or innocence.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty and argue the killing qualifies as aggravated murder because it allegedly endangered numerous people attending Kirk’s speech. They also contend Robinson targeted Kirk because of his political views.

Defense attorneys have unsuccessfully tried to prevent prosecutors from pursuing capital punishment.
