Shameless squatters move into Bay Area home of MURDER victim

Alleged squatters have taken over a San Francisco Bay Area property owned by a man who was killed last summer, according to an attorney representing his family.

Przemyslaw Jeziorski, 43, was fatally shot by a masked gunman on July 4, 2025, in Athens, Greece.

Jeziorski, a professor at UC Berkeley, was gunned down in broad daylight in what his family says was connected to a custody battle with his ex-wife, Konstantina Nadia Michelidaki. Relatives have described Michelidaki as the alleged “mastermind” behind the killing.

Christos Dounias, who was Michelidaki’s boyfriend at the time, confessed within days of Jeziorski’s death to being the shooter. He, Michelidaki and three other people were arrested on allegations that they conspired to murder the academic.

Michelidaki was later found dead in her prison cell in Greece on June 4 in an apparent suicide, according to Erin Stratte, the lawyer for Jeziorski’s family. Her death left the former couple’s twin children orphaned and in the care of the victim’s brother, Łukasz Jeziorski.

Before her death, Michelidaki had strongly denied any role in her ex-husband’s killing. She had been charged in connection with his death but had not been convicted.

Jeziorski, who was also known as PJ, owned “multiple properties and businesses” with Michelidaki before he died, Stratte said. Among them was a Marin Avenue property in Berkeley that the couple had rented out through Airbnb.

After the killing, Łukasz visited the home and found it “in order,” according to Stratte. But on December 4, 2025, neighbors contacted police to report a suspected burglary at the 2,167-square-foot property.

The unidentified squatters are believed to have gained entry to the home around 2.30am by kicking in the front door, Byron White with the Berkley Police Department (BPD) told SFGATE.

The four masked suspects fled the scene before cops arrived, and officers failed to stop them in their vehicles while attempting to pull them over, White stated.

But later that morning, a woman who is believed to be one of the alleged squatters, showed up at the home and claimed to police that she was renting a room from the landlord, according to White.

The unnamed woman said she was out of town when the home was broke into and that she attempted to phone the ‘landlord,’ but the call ‘wasn’t going through,’ she told police, per the report.

‘I didn’t think anything of it because when I met her and we did walk through she told me how she travels a lot and always isn’t in [the] Bay Area,’ the woman wrote in her statement.

She claims to have moved into the home on October 1 after touring it in August with someone she believed to be the homeowner. The alleged tenant said she paid $30,000 for a one year lease, along with a $500 deposit, SFGATE reported.

According to Stratte, the alleged squatters went on to report their own robbery as a way to ‘to establish their occupancy,’ and are now protected by tenant laws ‘even though they gained entry criminally’.

Jeziorski’s family first uncovered suspicious activity at the home in January when someone found ‘evidence that people had been there,’ Stratte told the outlet.

They went on to notify the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, sparking the start to the legal process to remove them.

An ‘individual representing the homeowners’ contacted the BPD on January 29 about suspected squatters, and officers located a man and woman in the home who said they were renting it out, White told the publication.

Investigators decided the dispute would have to be resolved in civil court. Eviction notices were filed against the woman and another dweller on April 21, SFGATE reported.

But Stratte said a ‘loophole in California law’ has made it hard to remove them.

According to the family attorney, the alleged squatters ‘claim to have a contract for rent drafted with PJ’s murderer who was in custody in a prison in Athens Greece at the time of the alleged lease date,’ referring to Michelidaki.

‘Even though it is a clear impossibility, the Court will not presently act to evict and the police currently refuse to remove them under color of a California law that needs to be changed,’ she added.

Stratte continued: ‘Nadia could not have entered a lease with these criminal squatters as she had no access to computers or English-speaking agents that would enable  her to complete such a contract.’

One of the suspected squatters was arrested for other crimes on the same day they were found, according to the lawyer.

Neighbors have also reported people stealing items from the home, which Stratte said is ‘taking advantage of orphan children that have a right to this property’.

More than a week after losing his brother, Łukasz and his family, who have had an ‘impossible’ time accepting his death, said he was a loving family man.

‘He cared about his family. He fought for them until the end,’ Łukasz previously told the Daily Mail of his brother, a highly-decorated educator.

‘He wanted to bring his children to his hometown of Gdynia, Poland, as he did every year. He planned a trip to Disneyland in Paris. He was very family-oriented and friendly,’ Łukasz added.
