LOS ANGELES — Disney is inviting fans back through the looking glass with “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland,” the newest chapter in the hit Disney Channel franchise. The movie premieres tonight on Disney Channel and will be available to stream July 17 on Disney+.
Kylie Cantrall is back as Red, daughter of the Queen of Hearts, played by Rita Ora. Malia Baker also returns as Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella, played by Brandy, and King Charming, played by Paolo Montalban, as the story continues from “Descendants: The Rise of Red.”
This time, Red and Chloe come home from their time-traveling journey only to discover that changing the past can come with serious consequences.
Cantrall told On The Red Carpet that returning to Red felt different after the time that passed between projects. “I think I came back to this character having lived a lot of life in between filming ‘Rise of Red’ compared to this one, and I feel like I was able to bring kind of my own personal growth to the character,” she said.
For Baker, the production had the energy of a reunion. She compared filming to “a summer camp in a way,” saying the cast spent long days together, shared routines and built the kind of off-screen bond that helped shape the movie’s on-screen magic.
Watch the “Descendants” stars enjoy a day at Walt Disney World Resort.
