2026 Open Championship TV schedule: Complete coverage, viewing guide and where to watch live

The 2026 golf calendar has arrived at its final major, with The Open Championship set for its 154th edition this week at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England. Golf’s oldest major is back at Birkdale for the first time in nine years, and on Sunday, the famed Claret Jug will be presented at the historic links venue for the 11th time.

Scottie Scheffler arrives as the reigning Champion Golfer of the Year, but the world No. 1 has spent much of 2026 more often chasing trophies than lifting them. His game remains among the most reliable and impressive in the sport, yet the week-to-week finishing touch that defined his previous seasons has not always been there. Rory McIlroy nearly overtook him as the betting favorite ahead of The Open, and after McIlroy’s sharp showing at the Scottish Open, it would be no shock to see him in the mix from Thursday’s opening round.

The Open’s return to English soil also creates a major opportunity for a deep group of home contenders, several of whom enter Royal Birkdale in strong form. No English player has claimed the title of Champion Golfer of the Year since Nick Faldo in 1992, but Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose will all hope to end that drought. It could be a massive sporting week for England as well, with the national soccer team playing in a World Cup semifinal Wednesday and potentially competing in the final during The Open weekend.

Being on site for The Open Championship is one of golf’s great experiences, but watching the world’s best players navigate one of the sport’s most prestigious stages is a close second. CBSSports.com will provide extensive coverage throughout the week as the final major of 2026 unfolds.

Now it is time for the action. Here is how to watch as much of The Open Championship as possible from the opening tee shots through Sunday’s final putt. Stay with CBS Sports for live coverage all week long from Royal Birkdale.
