To those around them, Angel and Lisa Vidrios seemed to have built the ideal law enforcement life: two smiling officers, respected by colleagues, raising three young children in a brick ranch-style home outside Nashville, Tennessee.
Behind that polished image, however, their marriage was unraveling. Angel, 39, became suspicious of Lisa, 37, and began searching through her phone, where he found a series of messages that raised serious questions.
According to a Metro Nashville Police Department report, the messages revealed that Lisa had been involved in an affair with another officer, identified only as an 18-year veteran assigned to the tactical operations team.
The texts, now reproduced here in full for the first time, appear to show the pair arranging secret meetings, including one encounter in which they drove separately to meet in a parking lot.
‘Unlock your door,’ Lisa wrote in one message. ‘I’m putting shorts on.’
The explosive internal report, which has since circulated online, alleged that Lisa, who worked as a school resource officer, had sex with the other officer multiple times, including in a police vehicle and in her own office.
Angel told investigators he even attempted to confront the 18-year veteran and persuade him to end the relationship, but the other officer allegedly refused to break things off with Lisa.
In the end, Angel took the matter to Lisa’s superiors, triggering an internal investigation into the affair that would ultimately cost both officers their careers.

But it all came crashing down when the policewoman’s affair with another Nashville cop was outed by her husband, who uncovered suspicious messages and explicit videos last year
Lisa resigned from the force after admitting to the inappropriate sexual activity outlined in the report.
The tactical officer was placed under investigation but took a pension for an injury, meaning the file on him was ultimately closed without an interview ever taking place.
The scandal has sent shockwaves through the MNPD and Madison Middle School in the northern part of the city.
It has also spotlighted the strain placed on America’s first responders, many of whom struggle to balance their family lives with the pressures of unpredictable schedules, stress and burnout.
Still, Nashville’s mayor’s office said it was simply ‘not acceptable’ for first responders to fall short of the high standards demanded of them by the community they serve.
Lisa, a nine-year US Marine Corps veteran, served in Afghanistan. She and Angel were well-regarded during their early careers at the San Diego Police Department.
Angel and two fellow officers were praised in local newspapers in 2022 after they shot dead a knife-wielding robber who had just emptied the register of a local store.
The California-born couple transferred to the Metro Nashville force that same year, and later appeared in promotional videos celebrating them as a married couple alongside their three young children.
‘I came here to Nashville with my family, and my husband included, who is also now a member of the Metro Police Department with me,’ Lisa said in the video at the time.
‘We have three children together – ages six, four and one year old – and we love spending time as a family and doing everything we can throughout the city of Nashville.’
But behind the scenes, all was not well in the marriage, according to a report from the department’s Office of Professional Accountability, obtained by the Daily Mail via a public records request.
The report stated that Angel complained in May 2025 that his wife was having an affair with the officer from the Tactical Operations Section. The husband’s name is redacted from the nine-page document.
Speaking with investigators, Angel said he had grown suspicious of Lisa and began searching through her phone, cross-referencing the details of what he believed was an illicit affair.

He said he found videos showing her and the other officer having sex on the couch inside her school office, even as staff could be heard talking just outside the door.
Lisa later admitted to having sex inside the school approximately four times in the late afternoon, at hours when children were still present inside the building.
The pair also allegedly performed oral sex on each other inside the male officer’s police vehicle, with at least one encounter taking place near an abandoned hospital.
Text messages cited in the report appear to show the two discussing meeting up to have sex, including one reference to ‘sneaking away’ to see each other during a work break.
‘I’m heading to see you now… It was a good time to disappear,’ read one of the messages included in the investigative file.
A separate text thread suggests the pair met in a school parking garage while the tactical officer was on duty, and that he expressed concern about nearby security cameras.
The male officer texted Lisa, ‘I parked next to you.’
She replied, ‘Unlock your door. I’m putting shorts on,’ according to the report.
Angel cross-referenced the videos and messages from a WhatsApp thread against a location-tracking app and the department’s own timekeeping system to piece together the timeline.
He discovered, he said, that the pair had allegedly been carrying on their affair while both were on the clock, including on at least one occasion when the male officer was working overtime.
Angel said the explicit photos and videos found on his wife’s phone dated back to at least April 6 last year, suggesting the affair had been going on for some weeks.
He said he first grew suspicious of his wife after spotting her in a ‘random parking lot near Top Golf,’ a restaurant, while checking her location through a tracking app on his phone.
Lisa later told him she had been meeting the tactical officer ‘for an unknown reason,’ according to the report detailing the internal investigation.
Angel said he even confronted the other officer and asked him to end the relationship, but was refused.
Investigators ultimately found ‘overwhelming proof’ that the couple had been having sex inside the school and the male officer’s police vehicle while both were supposed to be on duty.

Lisa agreed to a pre-investigative settlement approved by department leadership in September last year, and was found in violation of department policy on two separate counts.
She was found to have violated rules against conduct unbecoming an employee of the department, as well as a policy requiring officers to devote their entire time to their duties.
The male officer has never actually been interviewed as part of the investigation.
While under investigation, he filed for an ‘injured on duty’ pension, which was approved in February this year, preventing an internal interview from ever taking place.
Both officers were decommissioned and stripped of their police access on May 26, 2025, the same day the department first learned of the allegations against them.
The mayor’s office said Nashville’s first responders are ‘held to the highest standard.’
‘When they don’t meet that, it’s not acceptable,’ a spokesman said in a statement addressing the scandal.
Metro Nashville Public Schools said no students or staff were aware of the situation at the time it was taking place, and the school resource officer position has remained vacant for months since.
