Andrew and Tristan Tate are facing a new legal fight after British prosecutors said they are seeking the brothers’ extradition to the United Kingdom on rape and sex trafficking charges.
WASHINGTON — Federal authorities arrested the influencer brothers in Miami on Saturday, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
Brady McCarron, a spokesperson for the Marshals Service, told The Associated Press that the warrant connected to the arrests remained sealed.
The Crown Prosecution Service said late Saturday that it had begun efforts to extradite Andrew and Tristan Tate to Britain. Prosecutors said the alleged offenses took place between July 2010 and August 2017.
The brothers, both dual U.S. and British citizens, built large online followings while promoting hypermasculine views and moved to Romania in 2016. Romanian authorities arrested them in 2022 over allegations that they took part in efforts to lure women into sexual exploitation. The brothers denied wrongdoing, and the case did not proceed because of legal and procedural irregularities.

Former professional kickboxers, Andrew and Tristan Tate have attracted millions of followers — especially young men and boys — through content centered on wealth, status and openly misogynistic messaging.
Separate pending allegations in the United Kingdom accuse the brothers of abusing women between 2012 and 2015 in an area north of London, where they were raised. Their attorneys have previously said the men deny the accusations.
