Daredevil Spends Over 2 Hours Buried in Snow to Set Guinness World Record

He certainly didn’t freeze under pressure.

A Polish daredevil has officially landed a Guinness World Record after spending more than two hours buried in snow.

Damian Kasprzyk, from Poland, claimed the record for the longest time spent in direct full body contact with snow, enduring the icy challenge for 2 hours, 12 minutes and 12 seconds.

The achievement was the 41-year-old father of two’s first attempt at the snow endurance record. He is no stranger to extreme cold, however: Kasprzyk already holds the Guinness World Record for the longest duration in full body contact with ice, at more than five hours.

“Given that this was my very first time attempting a contact-with-snow challenge, the final time I achieved was very good! That said, I am competitive with myself, and I definitely want to improve upon this time in the future,” he told the record book.

Kasprzyk completed the freezing feat in Szlachtowa, Poland, on Feb. 21, with a medical team standing by throughout the attempt.

“The cold has never been something that scares me, though I always approach these extreme challenges with immense humility. I never take it lightly. That is why safety is always my number one priority. I always ensure that medical professionals … are on-site to monitor everything and keep me safe,” he added.

The thrill seeker, who fittingly works at Thermo King, a company that makes temperature-controlled transport systems, said exposure to the cold brings him a surprising sense of calm.

“Over time, I discovered that bonding with the cold gives me a profound peace of mind. It allows me to test where my true limits of endurance lie,” he said.

“I do this out of pure curiosity and a desire to push the boundaries of human capability, rather than just for the sake of holding records.”

Guinness World Records posted a video of Kasprzyk earning the title, and it was flooded with comments from those left awestruck by the accomplishment.

“Does his body know about hypothermia?” one asked.

“I can’t keep an ice cube on my palm for 2 mins,” another marveled.

“Three minutes, I’m dead,” someone else added.

“That’s some serious ‘chill’ level,” another quipped.
