Jurors on Monday were shown disturbing hospital images of Lindsay Clancy, including photos of her intubated and visibly injured after prosecutors say she tried to take her own life following the killings of her three young children.
The images, taken after the Jan. 24, 2023 tragedy, showed Clancy with blood around her neck and wearing a medical brace. Authorities have said the Massachusetts mother cut her wrists and jumped from a second-story window after fatally strangling her children, leaving herself paralyzed.
One photograph focused on her injured, blood-covered wrists.
Clancy’s defense lawyer, Kevin Reddington, also walked the jury through graphic images taken inside the family’s home after the incident.
Among the crime scene photos was a kitchen knife stained with blood, positioned near a cup bearing the phrase, “Because kids.”
Reddington pointed out a pale residue visible inside the cup, telling jurors it marked the spot where pills had been crushed. He said the medication was allegedly taken by Clancy before she went out the window.
The same photo of a nightstand also showed a bottle of sleep medication and a sleep-aid spray. According to Reddington, Clancy “couldn’t sleep for months.”
Another image presented in court showed blood pooled across the floor of a bedroom.
