Rep. Max Miller Shares Audio of Ex-Wife Alleging Drug Use Amid Accusations

Ohio Rep. Max Miller, already under scrutiny, has made public audio he secretly recorded of his ex-wife as he tries to push back against her abuse allegations — yet the recordings appear to support parts of what she has claimed.

The Republican congressman released the files Sunday through a Dropbox link. In the recordings, his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, accuses him of drug use, says she is afraid of him and describes photographing needles she said she found near his bed.

The audio captures a tense confrontation between the former couple on Aug. 20, 2024. It opens with Emily apparently questioning whether Miller had been recording their private conversations, asking, “You’ve never recorded one of our conversations?”

“I don’t,” Miller answered in the recording, which he appears to have captured without her knowledge.

“I have never gone into your cellphone. And I’ve never gone into your computer. And I’ve never sneaked into your backpack,” he told her during the exchange.

Emily, the daughter of U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), acknowledged that she had searched his backpack, saying she did so “because I truly do believe you have a drug problem.”

Miller sounded surprised by the accusation. Emily went on to say she believed he had used marijuana at one point and that she had discovered needles beside his bed, which she said she photographed.

When Miller laughed, Emily responded sharply: “I don’t know why that’s funny.

“That’s actually really f–kin’ scary,” she said. “It was a huge impetus for why I left.”

Miller responded, “OK. Go for it. Test for me whatever you would like.”

The congressman vehemently denied having needles near his bed, invoking the “Jewish word of honor” and encouraging her to check. Emily said she would send him photos of the needles.

When Miller suggested he was “super happy to take any drug test,” she replied, “I don’t know why you’d be thrilled with that, Max.

“I’m not tryin’ to screw you,” she said, according to another audio clip. “I’m honest-to-God scared.”

Miller eventually admitted to her in separate recording that he received testosterone replacement therapy and had been open with her about that.

In their custody battle, Emily’s lawyers had pressed Miller about how often he uses steroids, which are known to make people angry and cause extreme mood shifts, but the congressman’s team raised objections to answering the question.

In another secret audio recording that Miller captured in June 2024, Emily claimed she “literally went into the closet and started crying” after he poured hot water on her.

Miller replied, “I never thought that — that hurt you” and “it wasn’t done with intent.”

Two months ago, The Post exclusively reported on that recording, which was included in Sunday’s Dropbox file.

The more extensive, newly released audio dump lends credence to Emily’s accusations about Miller’s alleged drug use and the hot-water incident.

The congressman did a livestream on X on Sunday to address the abuse accusations he has faced from his ex-wife.

Emily has made various accusations about Miller in court and to the police, alleging that he shoved her during a custody exchange, poured hot water on her and put a gun to her head.

She’s also raised concerns about whether he abused their 2-year-old daughter, who was diagnosed with a broken collarbone and “what appeared to be a handprint bruise” on her shoulder, according to a police report.

Miller flatly denied all those accusations in his livestream.

“It is shameful that Max Miller decided to go on a bizarre and lie-filled rant about his ex-wife to desperately try to save his political career,” Emily’s spokesman Stefan Mychajliw said in response to the audio dump.

“There is a documented trove of evidence that Miller has a history of violent and dangerous behavior and no amount of victim shaming will change that,” Mychajliw said.

“It is despicable and abhorrent that Miller lied on an unhinged and humiliating video for their daughter to watch one day.”

In addition to Emily’s accusations, Miller has been accused of abuse by former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, of pushing someone down the stairs in high school and of getting arrested for driving under the influence in college.

The congressman’s livestream prompted Sen. Moreno to break his silence and call for Miller to receive psychological help, arguing he is unworthy of serving in the House.

Miller has until Wednesday to drop out of his reelection bid, where polls show he is facing a close fight against Democrat Brian Poindexter, despite President Trump winning his district by 11 points in 2024.

“I’m going to look at it. So far it’s accusations. I’ll be looking at it,” Trump told reporters on Sunday about the accusations against Miller.
