Infanta Sofia Revives Queen Letizia and Leonor’s Beloved Dress

Infanta Sofía of Spain showcased a savvy approach to royal dressing over the weekend, stepping out in a blue-and-white summer dress already familiar to royal fashion watchers thanks to both Princess Leonor and Queen Letizia.

The 19-year-old daughter of King Felipe VI wore the standout piece on Saturday evening as she joined her family for dinner in Palma de Mallorca.

Her choice was a breezy off-the-shoulder maxi dress, designed with dramatic cape-style sleeves and a vivid cobalt-blue abstract print set against crisp white fabric.

Keeping the look relaxed and summery, Sofía paired the dress with white strap espadrilles and added a playful touch with a pink-and-white beaded bracelet.

The ankle-grazing design, complete with a tiered skirt, comes from a collaboration between Barcelona label Desigual and designer Stella Jean. According to Harper’s Bazaar, the dress features distinctive panels decorated with abstract aquatic-inspired motifs, including fish, shells and birds.

The bold maxi dress first made a royal appearance on Queen Letizia around three years ago, marking it as one of the Spanish royal family’s more memorable shared wardrobe pieces.

Princess Leonor later wore the same design last year, with all three royal women styling it in a similarly polished holiday-ready way: with elegant summer espadrilles.

In August 2023, Queen Letizia debuted the look at a reception held at the family’s summer residence, Marivent Palace, pairing the piece with similar white espadrilles with a thicker wedge.

Following in her mother’s footsteps just two years later in August 2025 was Princess Leonor, who donned the exact same dress, styling it with gold earrings and navy-blue espadrilles for the ultimate Mediterranean summer look.

Leonor, the heir to the throne, continued her stylish streak and sustainable approach to fashion this year by pairing the same shoes with a deep-blue dress from Babbaki, featuring a halter neckline, a low back, and an all-over swan print in magenta.

Earlier this month, the Spanish royals exuded effortless elegance as they gathered for their annual glitzy Marivent Palace reception in Majorca.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia stepped out with their parents, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, for the gathering attended by local authorities and dignitaries from across the Balearic Islands.

It marked only the second time the two young royals, aged 20 and 19, have attended the prestigious event – and the sisters were captured arriving arm-in-arm with their 87-year-old grandmother, Queen Sofia, at the Palace.

Embracing the bold and bright colour scheme, Queen Sofia opted for a silk floral Alejandro de Miguel caftan over a burgundy dress, which she paired with a geometric necklace and Isabel Gurach brooch to accessorise.

Her granddaughters arrived in style – with Leonor, who is heir to the throne, embracing her natural brunette waves, while she wore a two-piece orange and red ensemble by Spanish brand Thinking Mu.

Leonor wore the top to a Bad Bunny concert in Madrid earlier this summer. This time, she accessorised the look with gold sandals and a gold arm cuff.

Her sister, meanwhile, stepped out in a pink, blue and white floral Libelula maxi dress by Italian brand Momoni, which she finished with a gold belt.

Queen Letizia looked as regal as ever in a cream midi dress with stylish coordinated sandals, while the King sported a polished look in a tailored blue shirt and dark trousers.

Last summer, Queen Letizia and Princess Leonor were spotted using sign language in a sweet video filmed during the annual Marivent Palace reception.

Ana María Ruiz, president of the Mallorca Deaf Persons Association, was among the guests invited to the royal occasion.

After meeting the royals, Ana shared the touching video on her Instagram page, which showed Queen Letizia and her daughters smiling warmly at the camera as they each signed their names, followed by a round of applause.

‘Yesterday I had the honour of attending the King’s reception at the Marivent Palace,’ Ana wrote on Instagram.

‘It was a unique moment, even more special by the presence of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, who attended for the first time.

‘As president of the Mallorca Deaf Persons Association, I had the opportunity to teach them some basic signs in sign language.

‘I also bumped into sports greats like Rafa Nadal and Rudy Fernandez. An unforgettable experience.
