Central Florida remains locked in a stretch of dangerous heat Sunday, with heat advisories continuing across the region. An upper-level ridge of high pressure parked over the Deep South is keeping the weather pattern very hot and mostly dry. Afternoon highs are expected to climb into the upper 90s, while heat index values could surge between 108 and 112 degrees. Rain chances stay limited at about 20%, with only a few isolated showers developing after 2 p.m. and lingering in spots through around 7 p.m. Most neighborhoods will remain dry.
Early Next Week
The start of the work week will bring more oppressive heat and only spotty rain relief as the high-pressure ridge continues to steer Central Florida’s forecast. Temperatures will again push into the upper 90s, and afternoon storm chances will remain modest, generally running between 20% and 30% across the area.
Mid-Week
By mid-week, rain chances should gradually increase as a weak upper-level low forms over Florida and moves toward the western Gulf. That feature will help weaken the ridge while adding enough moisture and lift to support more showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances are expected to rise to 40% to 50%, with highs easing slightly into the mid-90s for the latter half of the week.
