A police report obtained by ABC News has drawn attention to Brian Hickerson, the former boyfriend of actress Hayden Panettiere, after he was listed as being present during a death investigation in Greenville, South Carolina. Panettiere, however, has not died, and any claim stating otherwise is inaccurate.
According to the Greenville police report, Hickerson and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were at a South Carolina apartment when first responders arrived at the scene.
The report states that Brian Hickerson showed an officer “a bag of medication” that the individual involved was allegedly taking.
First responders found the person in cardiac arrest at the apartment on Sunday afternoon. The individual was pronounced dead roughly 40 minutes later, according to the report.
In the Greenville City Police Department report, an officer said they were dispatched to Easley Bridge Road in Greenville to assist EMS with an unresponsive person.
“The patient did not seem to have any obvious physical reasons to be unresponsive,” the officer wrote in the report.
The officer added that EMS personnel continued life-saving efforts for an extended period before declaring the time of death at 1431 hours.
While EMS was working on the patient, the officer wrote that they spoke with Brian Hickerson and Zach Hickerson, both of whom were at the scene.
Zach Hickerson described Panettiere as his brother’s girlfriend.
“I observed Zach to be very emotional while EMS were working on Hayden,” the officer wrote. “Brian did not become emotional until EMS declared her officially deceased. Medic 24 and S4 were on scene performing life saving measures.”
The officer added in the report that Brian Hickerson showed them the bag of medication that Panettiere was taking.
An autopsy, which was completed on Monday, found no signs of trauma, and a cause of death is still undetermined.
Panettiere was known for her roles in “Heroes,” “Nashville,” “Remember the Titans” and more. She was 36 years old and would have turned 37 this Friday.
Panettiere had been open about her battles with substance abuse and postpartum depression.
Her death came just days after an L.A. County judge denied Hickerson’s attempts to dismiss and reduce his past felony domestic violence charges involving Panettiere.
Meanwhile, as the memorial outside the South Carolina apartment continues to grow, Panettiere’s ex-fiance – the father of her daughter Kaya – paid tribute to his former partner.
Former boxer Wladimir Klitschko posted a photo of the trio on social media, saying, in part, “To our daughter Kaya, I will always speak of her mother with respect and make sure she remembers the person she was.”
