Two shot after argument at high school football game at Legends Center, JSO says

Two adults are expected to recover after a shooting Friday night, while Jacksonville police search for two men who fled the scene.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A dispute at a high school football game escalated into gunfire, leaving two people injured, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Officers were called to the Legends Center on Soutel Drive around 9 p.m. Friday after reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found two adults suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a hospital and are expected to be OK.

Investigators said the violence followed an argument between two groups during a game involving Young Kids in Motion Academy and Joshua Christian Academy.

According to police, one of the groups was escorted away from the area while the other stayed behind. The first group later returned, and shots were fired.

Detectives are now looking for two men, believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, who ran from the scene after the shooting.

Police said the shooting appears to be tied to an ongoing conflict between the two groups. Investigators do not believe there is any further threat to the public or to the schools involved in the football game.
