Porsche Panamera driver rips car off tow truck, tearing off bumper in wild Los Angeles escape

A Porsche driver in Los Angeles County was caught on video making a risky getaway Friday after the high-end vehicle had already been secured to a tow truck.

The driver, behind the wheel of what appears to be a Porsche Panamera, hit the accelerator and dragged the tow arm along a street in Glendale in an apparent attempt to keep the luxury car from being taken.

As metal scraped against pavement, the sports sedan — a model that can sell new for more than $100,000 — tore off its rear bumper and appeared to badly damage its suspension before breaking loose and racing away.

Online commenters quickly speculated that the Porsche may have been in the process of being repossessed over missed loan payments, though the exact reason for the tow has not been confirmed.

“If you can’t afford the car, let them take it. Why be a slave to those payments,” one person wrote beneath the video.

Another commenter pushed back on the repossession theory, suggesting the vehicle might simply have been towed for an illegal parking violation.

“How do you all know they are repossessing it ? Could have been parked illegally. These types park wherever they want.”

Others ridiculed the driver’s apparent attempt to avoid a tow fee, joking that trying to “save $500” likely led to a far more expensive bill for a new bumper and additional repairs.

The motorist managed to avoid the tow lot, but left behind a trail of damage and is likely to face charges.
