A Pennsylvania man accused of fatally beating his mother was arrested in a dramatic moment captured during a live television broadcast.
Jakob Korber surrendered to police on Sunday afternoon, just hours after authorities say he attacked his mother, Christin Hamilton.
Hamilton, 53, was discovered beaten to death outside her Sewickley Township home on Sunday morning.
Police said surveillance footage from outside the property allegedly shows Korber, 29, assaulting his mother for more than an hour after she stepped outside early in the morning wearing a towel to let her dog out.
After the alleged attack, he walked to a nearby field, lay down and fell asleep, the New York Post reports.
Local station KDKA-TV was reporting from the scene when Korber was seen walking casually near the home in a high-visibility shirt, his hands tucked in his pockets.
Moments later, a police vehicle pulled in front of him, prompting him to place his hands behind his head and drop to his knees.
As an officer jumped out of the vehicle, Korber moved to lie flat on the grass before the officer took him into custody.

When confronted by police, Korber immediately surrendered in an exchange that was caught on a local news channel’s broadcast
Additional Pennsylvania State Police troopers rushed to the scene and Korber was searched and taken into custody.
Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Steve Limani said that Korber attacked his mother as she was beginning her day.
Footage showed Korber start to viciously beat her, ripping her towel off in the process, Limani added.
‘It’s just a disgusting, vile act that he committed against his mother that lasted for a long, sustained period of time where she pled for her life and he, at no point in time, showed any mercy,’ he said.
The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office said that Korber appeared to have been arguing with his mother before the violent attack.
The DA’s office added that Korber used his hands, feet and multiple objects on the front porch during the attack.
Hamilton’s daughter found her mother naked and dead outside of their home at around 9am, police said.
‘I can only imagine what she had to go through to find her mother in the state that she was found,’ Limani said.

‘It’s a horrific thing for what the victim had to go through, and it’s disgusting to watch.’
Neither Hamilton’s daughter nor any neighbors heard the mother’s cries for help, police said.
‘She went through hell for over an hour, and it was at the hands of her son,’ Limani said.
Korber allegedly confessed in an interview that, if his mother was dead, it was his actions that killed her, police said.
Limani noted that Korber showed a ‘small part of remorse’ that was ‘conveyed during the subsequent interview.’
‘But [the assault] lasted for over an hour. At some point in time, you could have stopped and that’s not what happened,’ he continued.
Korber was arrested and charged with criminal homicide. He was booked into jail and denied bail upon arraignment.
