Corie A. Walsh, mother of Barrett, killed in domestic homicide in Brook Stone Court home, charged with murder: Frankfort police

FRANKFORT, Ill. () — The mother of a 2-year-old boy who died after what police described as a domestic homicide incident in Frankfort earlier this week has been charged with his murder, authorities said Friday.

Frankfort police identified the woman charged in the case as 38-year-old Corie A. Walsh.

Officers were called shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday to the 22700-block of Brook Stone Court following a report of an unresponsive child, police said.

The 2-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, according to police.

Authorities said an infant and two school-aged children were also inside the home at the time and were not injured.

Walsh remains in custody and is being held while receiving medical treatment, police said.

She is expected to be transferred to the Will County Jail.

Court documents released Friday provided additional details about the alleged murder and identified the child who died as Barrett Walsh.

A neighbor first found the child in the basement of the home. She performed CPR while calling 911.

The Will County Coroner’s Office said Walsh died from asphyxia.

The neighbor who tried to help the boy found Corie Walsh in an upstairs bathtub harming herself with a knife, court documents say.

Investigators say the neighbor threw that knife into the sink and held a towel on her wounds until police arrived.

According to court documents, the defendant told investigators she killed her son because he was “the devil and the anti-Christ.”

Investigators say her husband was out-of-state at the time but returned home after the incident.

Witnesses also told investigators that Walsh had been heavily invested in and texting with others about the Lindsay Clancy trial as the jury was in deliberations, roughly three hours before she allegedly killed her son.
