A two-year-old girl died Friday after two cars collided outside Apple’s sprawling headquarters in Cupertino. The driver of the other vehicle was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner identified the child as Riley Howard of San Jose.
The crash occurred around noon at the intersection of North Tantau Avenue and Pruneridge Avenue, directly in front of the Apple Park Visitor Center.
Santa Clara County Fire officials said firefighters arrived to find two heavily damaged vehicles, including one that had caught fire.
A witness said he heard the collision and saw one of the cars spin across the roadway.
“I heard the crash and watched the car kind of spin around. It was sparking from hitting the curb I guess,” Jerry Pannone told ABC7 Eyewitness News.
Bystanders found the toddler unconscious and performed CPR until paramedics reached the scene, officials said.

Riley was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died, according to fire officials. Two adults were also transported to the hospital.
A woman who was riding in the same vehicle as Riley remains in critical condition. Authorities have not disclosed her relationship to the child.
The driver of the second vehicle, a man, suffered minor injuries and was later released from the hospital. Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies arrested him on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
Authorities have not identified the driver.
Mourners gathered at the intersection Saturday to remember Riley, leaving flowers, candles and a photograph of the girl at the crash site.
Apple Park, the technology company’s ring-shaped campus, is located on the eastern edge of Cupertino. Its visitor center, which features an Apple Store and café, is open to the public and attracts tourists from around the world.
The crash remains under investigation.
