ALACHUA, Fla. – Two brothers, 23-year-old Jahiem Darnathan Foye and 19-year-old Trevian Semaj Towns, were arrested yesterday following a reported stabbing that prompted officials to place Mebane Middle School on secure status while police investigated. Officers later determined there was no threat to the school.
According to the Alachua Police Department, officers were called at about 1:02 p.m. on September 10 to the 14000 block of NW 167th Place after a stabbing was reported. When they arrived, they reportedly found Foye outside the residence covered in blood, with a towel wrapped around his forearm that was also soaked in blood. An officer asked what had happened, and Foye allegedly said, without prompting, that he had cut his arm and finger while trying to stab his brother, Towns. The officer then read Foye his Miranda warning; after that, Foye reportedly said he did not want to speak further.
Police reportedly located two knives covered in blood on the ground near the home.
The men’s 67-year-old grandmother reportedly told an officer the confrontation began after Foye and Towns got into an argument. She said Foye went outside and Towns locked him out of the house. When she unlocked the door, Towns allegedly locked it again. She told police she unlocked the door a second time and used a brick to prop it open, but Towns removed it. As she tried to put the brick back, Towns allegedly pushed her to the ground. That reportedly angered Foye, who allegedly grabbed the knives and stabbed Towns in the hand.
Towns reportedly went to his bedroom and locked the door because he feared Foye would stab him again. Foye allegedly stabbed at the door and, at some point during the incident, stabbed his own forearm and finger.
Foye, who is a registered sexual offender, was charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Court records show he has 12 felony convictions, including 11 sexual offenses related to child pornography. He served a 43.2-month state prison sentence and was released in April 2025. Judge Mitchell Bishop set his bail at $150,000 on the new charges.
Towns was charged with battery on a person over the age of 65. He has a juvenile history from 2018 to 2024. In April 2026, a sworn complaint alleged that he stole $7,000 from beneath a mattress in a hotel room while working there as a housekeeper. The complaint states that Towns denied taking the money, although his pockets were bulging, and that when law enforcement was mentioned, he left his work badge and key behind and ran. That case was later dropped. Judge Bishop set bail at $2,500 on the new charge.
