Gunfire and alcohol proved to be a dangerous combination in Florida.
A Fort Pierce couple was arrested Saturday night after authorities said they were caught firing weapons near their home while drinking.
Tiffany Rose Lindo and Jacob Roibert Mills, both 25, were taken into custody after deputies responded around 9 p.m. to reports of people actively discharging firearms, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the pair had been drinking before and during the incident and were allegedly firing a shotgun, rifle and handguns.
“A BAD COMBINATION, A WORSE DECISION: Firearms and alcohol. Two things that should never be part of the same plan,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook statement.
No injuries were reported, but officials reminded residents never to handle firearms while drinking.
“While shooting into the ground may have seemed like a good idea to those involved, adding alcohol and multiple firearms to the equation is not a combination that ends well,” the sheriff’s office said.
“If you are drinking, do not handle or discharge a firearm. Put the firearm away, leave it alone, and make the responsible choice,” the statement added.
The sheriff’s office released a photo of the weapons, which included an AR-style semiautomatic rifle, a shotgun, a semiautomatic handgun and a derringer-style pistol.
Authorities also shared images of Lindo and Mills smiling in the back of a patrol car after their arrests.
Both were charged with discharging a firearm in a public or residential area and using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
