A Louisiana couple allegedly left their 4-year-old child with another juvenile after discovering he had eaten a THC gummy, then went to a college football game. According to police, they returned roughly eight hours later and found the boy unresponsive.
Mary Cormier, 36, and David Butt, 34, are facing several charges related to the Sept. 13 incident, including child desertion.
Both Cormier and Butt were charged with second-degree cruelty to juveniles, child desertion and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. Jail records indicate that both have since been released after posting bond.
Police have not disclosed the identity of the juvenile who was left to supervise the 4-year-old. The investigation remains ongoing.
