Patrick Clancy Heads Out for a Jog Ahead of First Interview After Lindsay Clancy Mistrial

Patrick Clancy has been seen in public ahead of his first interview since the mistrial in Lindsay Clancy’s murder case.

On Sept. 16, the 38-year-old was spotted jogging in a Boston Children’s Hospital hat. He previously ran the 2024 Boston Marathon in memory of his three children, Cora, Dawson and Callan.

During that race, Clancy wore a shirt bearing the message: “In memory of Cora, Dawson & Callan. Every mile, every day.”

The sighting came days before Clancy’s scheduled appearance on 60 Minutes on Sept. 20. It will be his first interview since Lindsay’s murder trial ended in a mistrial on Sept. 4.

Although Patrick testified during the proceedings and said he had forgiven his former wife, he has largely stayed out of the spotlight. He has occasionally been seen in New York City with his new wife, Rachel Danis. The couple married in April, more than three years after the deaths of his children.

What Was Lindsay Clancy Accused Of?

The trial focused on the deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. The children were killed on Jan. 24, 2023, at the family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts.

In his testimony, Patrick said Lindsay asked him that evening to pick up medication from CVS and bring home takeout for dinner. When he returned, he found her in the backyard after she had jumped from a second-story window in an unsuccessful suicide attempt. He then discovered Cora, Dawson and Callan in the basement, where they had been strangled with exercise bands.

Lindsay’s defense argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors, however, characterized the killings as involving “deliberate premeditation and extreme atrocity and cruelty.”

“This was a woman who acted intentionally, rationally and swiftly to accomplish a very specific goal: to kill,” Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham told jurors. “This was a woman who no longer liked the life she thought she wanted.”

What Was Lindsay Clancy’s Defense?

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington did not deny that Lindsay killed the children. Instead, he argued that her psychosis left her unable to understand that her actions were wrong.

“This is a woman that was suffering from psychosis at the time that she went down to that basement,” Reddington said in his opening statement. “She had no motive. She loved her children. She intended to kill herself. She didn’t fake that.”

The jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Jurors were reportedly deadlocked 11-1 in favor of finding Lindsay not guilty by reason of insanity, prompting the judge to declare a mistrial.

Lindsay is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 29.
