Lane Kiffin's daughter hits back at Ole Miss fans over vile banner

As anticipation builds for Saturday’s LSU-Ole Miss football showdown in Oxford, Mississippi, Landry Kiffin is asking Rebels supporters to stop displaying sexually explicit banners targeting her and her family.

The 21-year-old remains an Ole Miss student despite her father’s reported $90 million move from the Rebels to LSU last November. Landry is also dating LSU linebacker Whit Weeks, but she says banners displayed around the Oxford campus have made inappropriate sexual references involving her and a former Ole Miss player she says she has never met.

“I normally don’t respond to hateful posts around game days, but this one actually hurts,” Landry, who holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, said in a TikTok video. “I’m still a student at Ole Miss. I’ve loved my time here, and I love Ole Miss, so that’s what makes all of this even more upsetting.”

She said she woke up to photos of banners hanging from homes around Oxford, shared by multiple social media accounts. According to Landry, the messages included offensive claims about her and a former Rebels player whom she said she has never encountered.

“Turning a girl into the punchline of a sexual joke because you’re angry with someone she’s related to should not be acceptable,” she said. “I understand emotions are high this week and people are upset, but I’m my own person.”

Landry added that she could not understand how anyone could feel comfortable displaying vulgar messages about a young woman on a large banner outside their home. “I just hope people realize there’s an actual person behind the jokes they make,” she said.

Our News Outlet has contacted Ole Miss representatives and the former Rebels player mentioned in connection with Landry for comment.

The controversy comes as tensions remain intense in Oxford. Lane Kiffin has been persona non grata among many Ole Miss supporters since leaving for LSU while the Rebels were preparing for the first College Football Playoff appearance in program history last November.

Additional security is expected at Saturday’s game, and Kiffin has acknowledged that he is likely to face a hostile reception from his former fan base.

“I guess there are real safety issues and things like that, but I have a plan for it,” the LSU coach said. “I told the players today that they don’t have to worry about the attention being on them this week. There’s going to be so much attention, hatred—everything—directed at me.”

For Weeks, however, the matchup carries an additional personal dimension: he is dating Landry, the LSU coach’s daughter.

Weeks was asked Tuesday whether he had considered the reaction Kiffin would receive when the LSU team arrives at Ole Miss.

“I haven’t really thought about that,” Weeks said with a smile. “But I know he’s going to get it. I know they don’t like him up there, but he’s prepared for it. It is what it is. He’s dealt with situations like this before in his career, and I know he’s more prepared than anybody.”

Kiffin previously endured an ugly return to Tennessee in 2021, when fans threw objects onto the field, including a golf ball and a bottle of mustard.

More than 64,000 spectators are expected at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for Saturday’s high-profile clash between two of college football’s biggest programs.

On Tuesday, Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter hinted that even President Donald Trump could be among the crowd.

Trump has attended numerous big sporting events while in office, including last year’s College Football Playoff National Championship game.

And Carter admitted that he has heard speculation from ‘Ole Miss folks that are close to the president’ that Trump could attend.

While the school is not planning for a visit from Trump, Carter insisted they are braced ‘for anything’ in case they receive word that he wants to be there.
