Kalshi is pumping millions into NY public schools while state regulators launch legal battle

Kalshi is directing millions of dollars toward New York public school programs as Attorney General Letitia James and state regulators pursue a legal challenge alleging that the prediction market is evading New York’s gambling laws.

Through a partnership with digital education company Everfi, Kalshi is launching a three-year, $2.4 million program designed to teach students how to navigate social media, artificial intelligence and other fast-changing digital environments in a healthy and responsible way.

The initiative will also offer a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) career-readiness curriculum covering data science, healthcare, software development and advanced manufacturing.

“Our hope is simple: to open the door for the next generation of innovators,” Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour said in a statement to The Post.

“Growing up in Lebanon, math was always my anchor—it is what fueled my decision to study at MIT and later co-found Kalshi. But today, far too few students have access to education that helps them explore future STEM careers,” Mansour added.

Everfi’s largely digital curriculum is now available in more than 100 New York public schools, according to Elizabeth Figoni, the company’s senior vice president.

“We’re investing in updated learning experiences that help students think critically about the information they encounter online, build healthy digital habits, and discover pathways to careers in high-growth STEM fields,” Figoni said.

Kalshi is seeking to strengthen its public image after James sued the company for $36 billion in July, alleging that it was attempting to circumvent state gambling laws by offering its event “contracts.”

The attorney general’s office filed a similar lawsuit against Polymarket, another prediction market, the following month.

In a statement at the time, James described Kalshi as an “illegal operation.”

“No matter what they call themselves, prediction markets like Kalshi are gambling platforms, plain and simple,” James said.

“By ignoring our laws, Kalshi is running an illegal operation and harming New Yorkers in the process. We are taking them to court to uphold our laws and protect New Yorkers,” she added.

Kalshi also announced a similar charitable investment last month, donating $3 million to Housing Works to support a healthcare clinic in East Harlem.
