Just days before reporting to federal prison, John Gotti’s grandson, Carmine Agnello, married Ariana Puran—the woman who had accused him of assault.
Agnello began serving his 15-month sentence on Aug. 10 after being convicted in a federal wire fraud case.
The marriage came months after Puran accused the 40-year-old of attacking her on June 2. New York State court records show that Agnello faces charges connected to the alleged incident, including third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief. He has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors allege that the confrontation began when Agnello—whose mother is Victoria Gotti—became suspicious that Puran had been unfaithful.
According to court documents reviewed by Oxygen, Agnello allegedly demanded to look at Puran’s phone before pushing and shoving her. He is also accused of slapping and punching her in the face and placing both hands around her neck.
Despite the pending criminal charges, Puran told Newsday that she would not pursue the case. Agnello’s attorney told the publication that the parties were working toward a resolution.
Why Is Carmine Agnello in Prison?
The Department of Justice said Agnello pleaded guilty in September 2024 to one count of wire fraud. The charge stemmed from allegations that he fraudulently obtained $1.1 million in loans from a federal program established to support small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prosecutors said Agnello applied for and received at least three loans through the Small Business Administration’s COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan program between April 2020 and November 2021.
The loans were secured for Agnello’s company, Crown Auto Parts & Recycling LLC. Prosecutors alleged that he diverted some of the funds for other purposes, including a $420,000 investment in a cryptocurrency business.
Investigators also alleged that Agnello falsely stated he had no criminal record when applying for the loans, despite having a misdemeanor conviction dating back to 2018.
