A Tennessee man says he was lured to a Memphis house, stripped, beaten and shot during an alleged robbery involving four suspects, including an attacker he knew only by the nickname “one-legged Jay.”
Bailey Jobin, 23, and Joseph Polk are facing multiple felony charges following Wednesday’s violent incident, according to Action News 5.
The victim told investigators that Jobin lured him to a salmon-colored home on Pope Street in Memphis on September 23. He said Polk transported him to the property.
Once there, “one-legged Jay” and two additional men allegedly appeared and demanded repayment for money they had lent the victim to buy a vehicle.
The suspects allegedly forced the man to remove his clothing before directing him into the backyard, according to police records cited by the outlet.
The victim recalled telling the men, “You’re going to have to kill me here.” Police allege that Polk then produced a handgun and shot him in the right thigh.
The two other alleged attackers reportedly punched the victim repeatedly in the face, knocking out several of his teeth.
Following the assault, the injured man made his way to Baptist East Hospital. Investigators met him there, where he reportedly identified the people he believed were involved.

Polk is accused of shooting the victim in the leg. He was allegedly among four suspects at the property, including another man the victim knew only as “one-legged Jay.”
Police identified Polk as the suspected gunman and began searching for him.
Authorities said they eventually saw him driving a black 2013 BMW that matched an earlier report involving a stolen vehicle.
Officers initially attempted to stop Polk, but he allegedly drove away. Police later found him outside the parked BMW.
Officers made contact with him, confirmed his identity and took him into custody.
According to Action News 5, Polk was taken for questioning but reportedly said he had been heavily using multiple intoxicants. Investigators determined he was not competent to provide a statement.

Polk faces charges including especially aggravated robbery, using a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft of property worth between $2,500 and $10,000 involving a motor vehicle, evading arrest and driving without a valid license.
Jobin has been charged with especially aggravated robbery.
The two defendants were scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
The remaining suspects, including the man known to the victim as “one-legged Jay,” had not been taken into custody.
Polk was also accused in 2024 of assaulting an officer while fleeing in a stolen vehicle. That pursuit reportedly ended in a crash involving several cars, with two people hospitalized.

He was allegedly behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Silverado when he reversed into the passenger door of a police car during a traffic stop.
An officer was in the passenger seat and tried to escape but was pinned between the door and frame, according to records cited by Fox 13.
Officials said Polk fled, speeding through a red light before losing control and smashing into multiple vehicles.
He allegedly tried to run off but was quickly taken down by police.
Jeremy Taylor, a witness at the scene of the crash, said he saw the accident unfold: ‘I was going down the street and [saw] the car chasing the truck.’
‘I picked my daughter up and came back and he had wrecked out and hit somebody else car. We [saw] him flying. He was probably doing 80, maybe 100 past us. I had to pull over and get out of the way.’
Polk faced charges of aggravated assault on a first responder, evading arrest, theft of property, speeding, disregarding a red light, reckless driving and driving without a license.
At the time of his arrest, he had warrants for evading, burglary and property theft, according to court documents.
