A 24-year-old Maryland father disappeared after traveling to Ohio last week for the Steelers-Browns Thursday Night Football matchup.
Phoenix Phillips’ disappearance has been described as “concerning.” Cleveland police said Sunday that he was last seen Friday in downtown Cleveland.
“He’s from out of state, so he was in town visiting and at some point kind of got separated from the person he was with,” Cleveland police spokesperson Sgt. Freddy Diaz told WEWS. “After that, you know, we’re still trying to determine what actually happened.”
Phillips traveled from Perryville, a community near Baltimore, to the Cleveland area for the Steelers-Browns rivalry game, according to Sylvia Colon, co-founder of the nonprofit organization Cleveland Missing.
Social worker Breejanee Alford told WEWS that she had spoken with Phillips’ “devastated” family.

“They’re telling me that he’s a loving dad and he also loves the Steelers. That’s why he came for the Browns game,” Alford said.
Authorities recovered a body from the Cuyahoga River near Jacobs Pavilion on Tuesday, Cleveland 19 reported. Officials have not said whether the discovery is connected to Phillips’ disappearance.
Phillips is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes.
