Two Oklahoma parents are facing child neglect charges after authorities alleged that one child was kept inside a wooden box and another was confined to a playpen for extended periods. Investigators also said the children were not properly bathed or cared for.
Sara Tudor, 46, and Michael Brown, 43, were each charged with three counts of child neglect, according to an announcement from the District 21 District Attorney’s Office in Oklahoma. Both were booked into the Garvin County Jail.
The case began on July 27, when a Garvin County schoolteacher contacted the Oklahoma Department of Human Services regarding three children, ages 9, 8 and 4. The teacher told officials she was worried about the children’s safety and well-being, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
The District Attorney’s Office was notified of the report. Four days later, on July 31, it requested that the OSBI investigate the children’s living conditions.
During the investigation, OSBI agents identified Tudor and Brown as the children’s parents.

Human Services officials allegedly discovered that one child had been confined in a wooden box while another was kept in a playpen for at least 20 hours. Authorities also said the children were inadequately fed and did not receive regular showers or baths.
Officials removed the children from the home and placed them with foster families. After medical evaluations, professionals concluded that the children had experienced psychological abuse linked to confinement and infantilization, authorities said.
The children also showed signs of abuse associated with insufficient physical care and dangerous conditions in the home, according to officials.
Tudor and Brown were arrested on Oct. 8. Court appearance information was not immediately available.
Garvin County sits in south-central Oklahoma, approximately 60 miles south of Oklahoma City.
