Federal agents raided Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington-area home early Monday as part of a criminal fraud investigation into the circumstances surrounding her entry into the United States.
Homeland Security Investigations conducted the search, according to a source familiar with the operation who spoke to Fox News Digital.
“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a DOJ spokesperson told the outlet.
The spokesperson described the action as part of an active federal investigation.
Investigators under Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin are reportedly examining immigration documents that Omar’s late father completed on her behalf when she was a child.
The search represents a significant escalation in a case first disclosed by border czar Tom Homan in mid-September.
When asked whether Omar herself was under investigation, Homan declined to provide details but cautioned that “no one’s above the law.” He also would not rule out the possibility of a citizenship review.
Several days earlier, Mullin said the inquiry extended beyond Omar’s disputed 2009 marriage and suggested that removal proceedings could be considered if investigators establish wrongdoing. Omar has repeatedly faced unsubstantiated allegations that she married her brother to help him enter the United States.

Minnesota has emerged as a central battleground in the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown and is home to the nation’s largest Somali-American community.
The state is also at the heart of a wide-ranging Medicaid fraud scandal that federal prosecutors say could involve as much as $9 billion. The administration has responded by sending a task force of federal prosecutors to the region.
Federal immigration agents fatally shot two U.S. citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, in Minnesota roughly two weeks apart in January. The incidents triggered widespread criticism, including backlash from members of the Republican Party.
The shootings continue to weigh on the White House as Republicans work to retain control of Congress, with the midterm elections less than a month away.
Monday’s raid is likely to energize President Trump’s political base, bringing immigration back to the center of the national debate in the final stretch before the elections.
Omar, a member of the progressive “Squad,” is among Trump’s most vocal congressional opponents and has been a frequent target of his criticism since his first term.

Omar married her former political consultant Tim Mynett in Washington in March 2020, just four months after her divorce from Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children, was finalized.
Mynett’s ex-wife, Beth, had filed for divorce the previous August, claiming in court papers that he walked out on her after making a ‘shocking declaration of love’ for the congresswoman.
The raid comes less than seven weeks after Minneapolis police swooped on the apartment Omar’s son, Adnan Hirsi, 20, shares with a roommate.
Officers seized guns and ammunition from the home and arrested the roommate, Abdulrahman Abdi, 22, on a weapons charge after finding a firearm in his impounded car.
Hirsi has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
