Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Tuesday again accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out multiple overnight airstrikes on areas near Yemen’s northern border with the kingdom and along its western coast. Saudi Arabia had not immediately responded, but the reported strikes followed air raid sirens in the Saudi capital and explosions heard hours earlier.

Houthis report multiple airstrikes on areas under their control in Yemen
The rebel-run al-Masirah satellite channel reported Tuesday that two airstrikes struck Kamaran, a Houthi-controlled island in the Red Sea. A third strike hit Qanawis district, about 55 kilometres (34 miles) northwest of the port city of Hodeida.
The channel also reported airstrikes in Jawf province, which borders Saudi Arabia.
Al-Masirah blamed Saudi Arabia for the strikes but offered no additional details.
The Houthis separately claimed that they had shot down a Saudi drone over Saada province, a rebel stronghold in northern Yemen along the Saudi border.
Saudi Arabia had not issued an immediate comment.
The reported strikes came several hours after air raid sirens sounded in Riyadh on Monday evening, with residents also reporting explosions.
The Houthis also claimed to have launched a ballistic missile toward King Khalid International Airport, which has been targeted in a series of deadly attacks in recent days.
