Sean “Diddy” Combs’ reported privileges behind bars may have put him at greater risk, according to prison insiders, as questions continue to surround an alleged late-night incident that led to an emergency hospital visit.
The rapper, whose legal name is Sean Combs, 56, was taken to a hospital with a head injury early Saturday, October 10. Sources told TMZ that the injury followed an alleged confrontation with a convicted drug trafficker at New Jersey’s FCI Fort Dix. Combs is serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Uncertainty surrounding the alleged altercation intensified Thursday when the Federal Bureau of Prisons told Our News Outlet that the account was “false and did not happen,” without providing additional details.
A spokesperson for Combs welcomed the agency’s denial but said they had not independently confirmed what occurred and had “no verified information” indicating that the rapper had been assaulted or injured.
Although Combs returned to the prison later that day, sources told Our News Outlet that he may not remain at the facility. Concern over the former rapper’s safety has reportedly intensified in recent weeks.
“There is a growing concern that Diddy could become more vulnerable in the months ahead, especially if more inmates show aggression toward him,” said a prison source familiar with Combs’ situation.
“It is getting a little scary.”
The reported hostility appears to have followed a surge in contraband searches after an NBC News investigation alleged that Combs had been enjoying unusually comfortable conditions at Fort Dix. The report claimed he had access to Chinese-style massages, nude photographs, Instagram on cellphones and branded alcohol, including Hennessy.

Prison insiders alleged that Sean “Diddy” Combs was involved in a scuffle with Jamaican drug kingpin Christopher “Dudus” Coke and was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

According to the allegations, Dudus was angered by an explosive report describing the VIP treatment Combs was purportedly receiving at FCI Fort Dix, as reported by NBC News.
“They’ve had two or three massive searches within a few days after that NBC piece came out,” Sam Mangel, a federal prison consultant with a client at the facility, told Our News Outlet.
Mangel said inmates who allegedly lost their own costly contraband as a result of the increased scrutiny had turned against Combs.
“There’s contraband in every facility, and some of them have access to phones which costs them thousands and thousands of dollars. The last thing they want to do is have that much attention brought on them,” Mangel said.
“To have access to those phones taken away because some knucklehead like Combs brought so much attention to himself—the other inmates do not like that at all.”
The alleged attacker was identified as Christopher “Dudus” Coke, who is serving a 23-year sentence connected to his leadership of the Shadow Posse, a Jamaican drug cartel. Coke has reportedly been held in solitary confinement.
After the exposé raised questions about Combs’ alleged VIP treatment, he was reportedly placed in the same special housing unit as Coke. Mangel said their proximity may have created an opportunity for a confrontation.
“If he’s just going to the shower and Diddy’s leaving, [Coke] could have gotten him there,” Mangel said.
“There’s a small exercise yard. They could have both been in there. I tend to doubt there was a separation order for those two.”
Combs was reportedly taken to the hospital with head injuries after the alleged Saturday morning incident. TMZ reported that the ambulance left Fort Dix at about 1 a.m. and that his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Combs and Coke are serving their sentences at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security correctional facility located next to a minimum-security prison camp.

On Wednesday, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) told Our News Outlet it does not comment ‘on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including quarters assignment or medical status.’

The BOP then claimed in a later statement that details surrounding the alleged fight were false.
‘We can tell you that the story you are referring to is false and did not happen,’ the statement said.
Juda Engelmayer, Diddy’s spokesperson, told Our News Outlet: ‘We appreciate the BOP’s clarification, which confirms our concerns about the accuracy of the initial reports. We have not independently verified the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident, and I don’t want to speculate about what may or may not have happened.
‘At this point, we have no verified information indicating that Sean was attacked by Christopher Coke or anyone else, or that he sustained injuries.’
Diddy was reportedly returned to Fort Dix later that day, and his continued stay at the facility has stoked serious concerns for his safety.
‘There is a real concern that another confrontation could happen soon,’ a source close to Diddy told Our News Outlet, noting that Diddy’s fame only makes him a bigger target behind bars.
‘The scary part is that people are starting to worry about just how safe he really is in there. Nobody wants to see a situation where things go too far and Diddy ends up seriously hurt or, even worse, killed before he gets out,’ the source said.
‘The last thing anyone wants is for this to turn into something much more tragic that could have been prevented.’
BOP officials will more than likely transfer Combs from Fort Dix to another facility like FCC Petersburg in Prince George County, Virginia, Mangel told Our News Outlet.

A recent NBC News report alleged Combs was receiving ‘VIP’ treatment from inmates who were willing to do his bidding
Prison staff at the facility where he could be transferred will be watching Combs even more closely because of the recent attack and his history of allegedly ‘buying’ VIP treatment, Mangel said.
‘Combs brought way too much attention down, and to the staff,’ Mangel said. ‘These phones are contraband being smuggled in, and there’s a possibility it’s coming in through the staff.
‘So not only did he bring attention on what other inmates are doing, but on the staff as well. He’s created a very challenging environment for himself at that facility going forward, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they will move him for his own safety.’
Diddy was originally set to be released in May 2028 before the date was moved around multiple times.
Last week, it was revealed the disgraced rapper was expected to spend even more time in prison after his release date was pushed back.
Mangel said the rap mogul had initially been on track for an earlier release thanks to ‘good time’ credits and his participation in the Residential Drug Abuse Program, or RDAP.

The intensive treatment program typically lasts nine months, with inmates living in a separate unit while attending therapy and classes. Eligible prisoners who complete it and meet other requirements can qualify for an earlier release.
But Combs’s alleged recent antics at Fort Dix, allegedly involving antidepressants and liquor, as well as reports of a lengthy disciplinary record, could now cost him some of his good behavior credits and push back his release date even further, Mangel said.
‘The prison staff will be more guarded with him not only because of his notoriety but they don’t want another report that he is getting the VIP treatment,’ Mangel said, referring to the luxury perks Diddy is accused of enjoying.
‘You don’t go to prison and have access to Hennessy and fancy massages. You go, theoretically, to rehabilitate, not to continue the same behaviors. He really backed himself into a corner because of pure selfishness and stupidity.’
